It is suitable for most downrod style fans, but not recommended for use with hugger style fans. The remote is compatible with all incandescent light bulbs and some dimmable LED lamps, but most LED lights and all CFL lights are not dimmable, and the remote only controls the On/Off function in that case.

Setting up the remote control is easy. You need to set the DIP number "1234" on the transmitter and receiver to the same position, and the separate dial "0/D" is used as a dimming option, selecting "D" if the bulb supports dimming, or "0" otherwise. The default setting is 0000, which is not recommended.

Installing the receiver in the ceiling fan is straightforward.
